Kesheni Massawe

Amie Murray from Bolton is sponsoring Kesheni through three years of study at the Institute of Development Studies in Moshi, Tanzania. Kesheni is studying for a Certificate in Information & Communication Studies, and then hopes to progress to a Diploma Course.

The story behind Amie’s generous sponsorship is worth knowing: Amie went to Tanzania in July 2015 age 15 as part of a small group of pupils from Bolton School. She partly funded her trip by baking and selling biscuits in school and Amie and the staff and pupils carried out various fund raising events to buy laptops and stationery for the pupils of Meserani Outreach Centre. The pupils from Bolton School and the outreach centre buddied up to take part in activities for the two weeks they were there. Kesheni, although not Amie’s partner stood out to everyone firstly for his impeccable English , but also for his enthusiasm to participate and for his clear talent and passion for his subjects and out of school activities such as break dancing.

The trip was life changing for Amie and since coming home her family have sent money through The Meserani Project for grain at Christmas to some of the families Amie met, and also sponsored two pupils to go to school and college. Amie hopes to return one day so she can continue to make a difference to these families.
