Medical supplies for Meserani Posted April 12, 2015 by admin

Many of you will be aware that the clinic at Meserani Snakepark provides free medical care for the local population, and is funded voluntarily by Meserani Snakepark and their supporters. The clinic is an absolute lifeline for the local people, who would not be able to afford the fees if they had to visit hospitals and clinics in the nearby town. The work that the clinic does is amazing, and many lives have been saved over the years.

Obtaining medical supplies and equipment is a constant problem for the clinic, and a drain on their resources, so all donations are invaluable to them. On Friday we took a delivery of medical supplies and equipment from Katharine Trotter and her husband Simon, who drove down from Edinburgh with a huge amount of resources ranging from crutches to rehydration kits. Katharine obtains the equipment via her organisation ‘Helping Hands with Charity’, based in Edinburgh, and we are eternally grateful to her. Katharine is a former school nurse, and Simon a former G.P.

Yesterday, four of our helpers gave up their time to help sort out all the equipment, make an inventory, and then pack it in boxes ready to be taken out to Meserani by the pupils who are on the Acklam Grange School trip in July this year.
