Moita Form Four - June 2015-AIt was a busy day here at Meserani, with a variety of tasks that needed accomplishing, plus one almightily big surprise.

First off was a one-hour drive through the bush to Moita Boys’ Secondary Boarding School – it is school holiday time at the moment, but the Form Four boys have to stay at school (it is their final year, and they have their National Examinations in November). We handed out letters from their sponsors, and made arrangements for the Acklam Grange School visit in July. The journey took well over an hour this time, because lorryloads of hardcore had been dumped on the track for about a mile to try and improve the surface, and they hadn’t been flattened out yet, so it was some very careful off-road driving to get round them.

Kipok letters June 2015Kipok solar power June 2015Kipok Dormitory June 2015Next, it was a half-hour off-road drive to Kipok Girls’ Secondary Boarding School to meet the Form Four girls (also having to miss their school holiday). We handed out sponsor letters to the girls, and then spent some time looking at the new dormitory currently under construction (we are funding the completion of the building), and the remaining teachers’ home that has no solar power ( the Virgin Media group coming next week are going to install solar power to this home). The three teachers living their were overjoyed (Aisha Kuyava, Grace Kisika, Mamela Laite and Evaline Laize.)

Then it was another half-hour off-road drive to Einoti Secondary School for a meeting with the Deputy Head Teacher and the Accountant, to resolve an issue where they had made a mistake regarding the school fees that we paid this year for our nine pupils there. The meeting got a bit heated at times, and it was unusual to be ‘on the other side of the fence’ regarding a complaint to a school!

Naimutie Mollel June 2015Back to Meserani to meet the new head teacher of Meserani Juu Primary School, Naimutie Mollel, where a number of our concerns were raised, and promises were made.

We had a massive surprise late this afternoon when we met someone who we had not seen for three years – all will be revealed in a future post!
