It appears that there is a new entry requirement for Tumaini University, here in Arusha, Tanzania – and it has nothing to do with A’ Level grades.
Diane went for a meeting with the university registrar yesterday as part of her ‘University fact-finding mission”, but was stopped at the gate and told that she “was a bad example” because she was wearing trousers and not a skirt. They said that she “would encourage the female students to wear trousers”, and as a consequence, she was banned from entering and told to go away.
Undeterred, Diane wandered off across the road and found a shop that sold cloth. She rolled her trousers up to her knees, bought a piece of cloth, wrapped it round her waist and tied it in a knot.
It was then back to the university with a triumphant smile, and on to the meeting with the registrar. The story is told in pictures below:
