The Meserani Warriors are a group of volunteers from the telecommunication industry, who visit Tanzania each year to support the work of The Meserani Project. Their achievements over the years have been transformational – from installing solar power systems and water harvesting systems, to setting up a digital teaching infrastructure at the Meserani Secondary School – and so much more.

This year they were nominated for the “Outstanding Community or Charity Initiative” category at the prestigious ITP (Institute of Telecom Professionals) annual awards. They were then selected as one of only three shortlisted projects to attend the awards ceremony at the Royal Lancaster, London, on 8 October.

The fantastic news – hot off the press – is that they were actually selected as this year’s winners!

Huge congratulations to their leader, Chris Starling, and everyone who has volunteered to join the group working in Tanzania over the years. This is a just and well deserved reward for everything that Chris and his teams have done, since the first trip in 2015 – it is wonderful that their commitment, energy, sacrifices and humility have been recognised nationally. Congratulations also to all those wonderful people who have supported Chris over the years, many of whom have gone on to continue their support of the work that is being done in Meserani, Tanzania.

Their next trip is in January next year, and is open to anyone at all who would like to join them – you do not have to come from the telecommunications industry, you are welcome whatever your background is. Please contact Chris Starling if you are interested: meseraniwarriors@gmail.com
