The National Examinations for Form Two pupils in Tanzania have just been published by the government this week – these are examination that the pupils have to pass in order to proceed to Form Three – if the pupils fail, they are given one chance to complete Form Two, and if they fail the examination again they are not allowed to continue their secondary education.
We had 40 pupils sitting this examination at the first attempt in November last year, and 37 have passed (a 92.5% pass rate – would this impress an Ofsted Inspector!) We had five pupils re-sitting the examination who had failed in 2012, and three of them have passed this time – this is really pleasing for us, as we did not expect them to pass this time.
