2015 Trip – 25 July

Lewis Jefferson

Yesterday we went to a primary school in Meserani to see some of the cutest kids I’ve seen. There were 7 year groups and just 4 classrooms so the kids had to go home at lunch time for the older kids to go to school. They were desperate but the kids and the teachers were amazing! We then went back and left Snake Park as you know, and set off to Tarengere National Park. The park was amazing and didn’t disappoint as we saw; ostrich, wildebeest, vultures, giraffes, jackals, mongoose and… elephants!! There were loads of them in one place right next to the truck; about 10 feet from us all chilling, even baby ones sleeping! We went back to camp which was literally in the middle of the park with no fences where any animal you could think of could stroll past our tents. We sat around a campfire listening to stories and listening to the noises that could have been behind our backs. The lions were the greatest noise to hear, even though we didn’t see them, we definitely heard them. We woke up really early the next morning in hope to see other big cats but we didn’t see any unfortunately… up close anyway. A heard of wildebeest were saw legging it down the savannah with a golden figure chasing them behind travelling at immense speed; it was either a cheetah or a lion! So we left the bush camp and set off to our next camp which has an amazing swimming pool! We all went swimming but it was cold so it didn’t last long. However, the camp is amazing as we are actually on grass with a warm shower! Tomorrow we’re up incredibly early to go to the Ngorogoro Crater national park in the land rovers. I’m so excited because it is suppose to be absolutely amazing! Hopefully we’ll see something rare! Bye for now everyone. Missing you all, I love you lots.

Tomorrow morning we have to wake up at 5am and we are going on a game drive safari on land rovers for lunch and then we’re heading back to the snake park. I hope you’re all well, I’m missing you! Today we woke up very early to go on a game drive in Taringire National Park, where we saw lots of elephants, along with many other animals. Once we’d finished the drive, we spent two hours on the road, and are now currently in the Flamingo Lodge and were given the chance to dive into the swimming pool which was very refreshing! We are waking up even earlier tomorrow to enter the Ngorongoro Crater. Miss you guys, love you.

We went on a pre-breakfast game drive in Tarangire and saw loads of elephants and giraffes but unfortunately there was no predators. We’re hoping tomorrow morning we will have more luck in Ngorongoro Crater. We have an early start at 5 so we will get there when it is still dark. We reached the next campsite and it has a pool so we all went in for the afternoon and then we went to a local bar and got some drinks so it was a very relaxed afternoon overall. Hopefully tonight we will all get an early night so we won’t be too tired tomorrow morning.

Today was a very early start after our night in the bush as we were going on an early morning game drive to see what we could find. So far we only need to see a cheetah and a leopard that I can think of so I’m over the moon for what we have seen and I have captured some amazing pictures. And our pool in the campsite today was cold, but amazing and refreshing. I can’t wait for tomorrow in the Ngorogoro Crater it will be breath taking. I love and miss you all. x

We went on a pre-breakfast game drive and saw lots of elephants however there were no predators unfortunately. We reached the next campsite and it has a pool so we went in for a few hours which were so relaxing. Afterwards we went to a local bar and overall the afternoon was so relaxing. We had our tea and Peter said he had a surprise for us. There was a private show for us which was traditional African dance and acrobatics which was absolutely amazing! Afterwards they got us all up to dance and took us in to the circle individually to dance with them. It was such an amazing day. Missing you and love you all lots.

Today, we woke up bright and early to go on a game drive to look for animals. The game drive was amazing when as we saw a full family of elephants with a little baby one sleeping. I really wanted to see a Leopard or a Cheetah but they are really rare to see which is such a big shame. After the game drive we went to the Flamingo Lodge where we are camping for the night. When we arrived at the Lodge we went into the pool that the Lodge as and it was good however, it was really cold. As I write this now we are waiting to have our tea. Yesterday was a very busy day again, this is because we made the travel from Meserani Snake Park to Tarengire which was the bush camp. It was definitely an experience as how many times will I be able to do that again. I really enjoyed sitting around the camp fire listening to Grace talk about the history of Kenya and Tanzania we also heard a lion roar which was absolutely spectacular. On the morning we went for a early morning  game drive where we saw elephants up close which was so amazing and a memory I will definitely remember. After that we went from Tarengire to the camp that we are in  now which is Flamingo Lodge. We are currently waiting for our tea while trying to pair each other up with animals. Apparently I am a Panda. I hope everything is all well at home and I really can’t wait to see you all so much. Not long now!! I love you all!

Two days ago we were in a newly built primary school which has a limited number of classrooms so the day is split in two for different forms. All by myself I ventured into a classroom and took over the teacher role again. However not knowing anything about music I just took the work from the bored and got the children to recite do re me fa la so. Pretty sure that’s it’s in the wrong order but using my initiative I took work from the one poster in the class and they learned the anatomy of the body. We then visited tarangere national park to behold wonderful sights with wide eyes over magnificent views at the lodge located within the national park. Elephants 10 feet away jaws wide open the camera shutters snapping down everyone was in a gaze at the majestic creatures.
