This week we had a meeting with the newly elected Member of Parliament for Monduli, Julius Kalanga. Also present were two District Councillors from the Meserani region.

This was an excellent opportunity to get the M.P. up to date with the work of The Meserani Project, and also to share any areas of concern. There was also discussion about recently introduced legislation to help alleviate the problems young girls faced in accessing secondary education.

We discovered at the meeting that the M.P. was a distant relative of one of our sponsored pupils – Kishumui Nairowa! Another interesting discovery was that he himself  was from the Maasai Tribe, and had actually benefitted from sponsorship through his education by someone from Germany – so he was fully appreciative of the work of The Meserani Project.
