Jambo everyone!!

Today we went to Tarangire safari park. I was in a landrover with the people I shared a Banda with. It was a very early morning and an hour and a half drive to the park. When we arrived there we went on a game drive through the park and seen some amazing animals and really close. We seen animals like elephants, zebras and baboons so close that you could probably touch them! It was surreal. We finally got to see the lions we were looking for the whole trip and we didn’t just see one, we seen three as well as the two cheetahs we seen. We had a brilliant driver who was so informative about anything we were asking which was great to find out things I didn’t have a clue about. We were on a drive for about 4 or more hours which was great because we seen basically everything we wanted to see then we went to the picnic area where we seen loads of elephants walking past which was such a beautiful sight. After we finished lunch and were done finished looking at the elephants we went to the safari hotel were we looked out on what I think is the best view in the world, it was amazing, you could see wildlife and beautiful scenery for miles and miles which was perfect with an ice cold bev! The whole day was incredible and I cant wait to show you some of the pictures I have. Off to see a boma tomorrow so ill speak to you soon, don’t miss me too much!

Heyy everyone,

It was a very early morning today, 5 o’clock!!! This is because we were going on Safari in Tarangire park. We went in three land rovers. We were five minutes away and our land rovers tyre popped so we have to change it and we were a bit delayed. Our driver was called Decko and he drove us round the park. We saw many animals like elephants, zebra, cheetahs and lions which was our main aim to see while we were there. It was absolutely amazing. We then went to the Safari lodge for a drink and the view was the park and it was the best view I have ever seen! We had a near death experience while we were there as we were stood looking out of the roof and then an elephant got angry and started charging at us so we all sat down and quiet and luckily it stopped and walked away. I got some amazing photos though. Angie who is on the trip with us told me to tell you to look at the Kupenda Africa page as she will be putting some photos on for you to see. I am missing you all so much and cannot wait to be home and see you. Not long left at all. I love you all so much and I will see you all soon.

Lots of love,

Izzy xx

The other day like I said I watched the goat being killed, it was very gory and at first I was a bit horrified. However after that I found it to be educational and interesting as the Maasais knew exactly what to do with the body. After the maasai served us the goat and it was really tasty but I was really surprised that they severed the meat on a stick in the ground and ripped of pieces for us. After the meal we did the traditional Maasai dance and then went to the Bomas. The sky was so beautiful and clear you could see all the constellations and the Milky Way, it was absolutely amazing. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Bomas were bigger than I thought they would be but I didn’t get a good night sleep since I had to sleep on the floor and cockroaches the size of my hand swarmed the Boma it was awful.

Yesterday, we walked back from the Bomas early in the morning and set up for the sports day. my job was to collect the equipment and run to the start to give to the starters. It was very fun. The sports day ran very smoothly and I had fun giving a bag of maze to one of the winners, it was exciting. But the best part had to be watching the arrival of Chini primary school. They arrived in a minivan and 64 pupils got out of it it was incredible, I find it hard to believe that it was possible. However yesterday I wasn’t feeling all to great and I slept the most of it.

Today, I would rate 11 out of 10 since it was that amazing and after catching up on sleep the day before I was feeling 110%. We went on safari rides in real safari jeeps instead of the truck. We could stand up and see 360˚ around and we could take great photos. I finally saw lions and they were gorgeous. We saw some elephants but one gave us a terrible fright when it charged at the jeep, it made a great memory. Then for lunch be stopped for a picnic in the middle of the safari trail, it had a grat view and zebras and elephants walked by just around 15 feet away. However the best part was going to the lodge, it was very posh and it had one of the best views I have ever seen. It was totally amazing!

See you later. I miss you lots, love you xxx… Ellie

Yesterday we had sports day which was really enjoyable as we were able to see the children enjoy themselves and have fun all together. It was 4 of the primary schools that we visited which was good as we had met some of the children before. Then the winner of each game got a bag of maze flour to take home to their family. On the night we slept in boma’s which smelt really bad and had lots of cockroaches in which I was squishing. We had an amazing day with Lisa and bonded with everyone. We went to Amos’ boma which was much better than the one we slept in as it was much more modern. We also spent a lot of time with the children in the clinic and showed them what bubbles were. Then we went to the snake park and got showed round and held a snake which was really cold. Tomorrow we get to go on the safari trip which is better as there will only be 6 of us. Love you all so much and miss you all so so much. Hope you are all okay and really not long now till I’m home.

Love liv xx

Jambo! Sorry I wasn’t able to write yesterday but I was really tired and went to bed early after our night in the Boma. I’ll be honest it was as bad as it sounds and I didn’t get a wink of sleep. We were sleeping on top of cow skin which wasn’t the most comfortable material. Then there were flies everywhere and cockroaches so Lisa had to whip out her Doom spray. Olivia became a ninja the way she killed bugs! We played silly games to try and occupy ourselves and we had minstrels. Then Lisa put on a meditation app thing which sort of sent us off to sleep. We did keep waking up though. Some dogs started fighting against the walls. We got up really early just so we could leave. When we got back I couldn’t get warm at all so I had a really warm shower which was amazing. Then we had to get organised for sports day. It was a really great event. At first we didn’t think anyone was coming because no one turned up at 1, but then all the different schools started to arrive by mtatoo and climbing over walls it was quite a sight. Me and Joe were in charge of equipment so we were making sure everything was where it should be. It was a right laugh, all the schools were so competitive, and all the audience were getting up and screaming. Towards the end, me and Joe had to help in the relay race- the kids were going to run around us- and Peter did warn us that they would try to pull us over. Well, one slapped my thigh, tried to pull me trousers off and nearly sent me flying because they had had to turn round so quickly and sharply, it was hilarious. Then it was chill for the rest of the night. We went to bed early because we had safari the next day. However our duty group couldn’t go because one of the trucks didn’t have seat belts so we stayed at camp. We are going tomorrow though. We still had a pretty amazing day. We had a party on the truck, and then we went for tea and biscuits. Then we had a tour around the snake park where a guide told us all about the different snakes- I even got to hold one! Yep me, holding a snake lol! At 11, Amos took us to his Boma to show us around, his was a lot more decorated than the one we stayed in. His family was so lovely- his niece Flora was there and we taught her how to skip and play elastics. Also we went to the Clinic again. We took bubbles because none of the kids had seen them before and it was hilarious at first because they were unsure but then they really got into it. One girl loved my camera and I helped her to take some pictures. We also went to a gallery to look at some of the merchandise they had for sale, we played Frisbee and I’ve a load of new card games. Bed early again tonight for the safari. Still missing you all but not long to go now- but I don’t really want to leave! Love you Luke x

Hi all, I know I haven’t wrote a diary for a few days and my last one was half done but I’m back. I’ll finish what I was saying about the disabled home. It was very sad but it was nice to see that the children living there had a nice location to live in. I did get upset but people were there to comfort me. David was especially comforting and I really appreciate him cheering me up so I would like to say big thank you to him. Yesterday we did a sports day, it was really fun and the children had a great time. Today everyone went on safaris but there was a problem with one of the Land Rovers so our group, Lisa’s Team, stayed back at camp for the day and we’re going to go tomorrow. We actually ended up having a really fun day and did lots of stuff. We wrote a to-do list in the morning and completed everything on it. We had tea and biscuits, we went on a tour of the snake park and I even held a snake and I loved it! We also went to the clinic to play with the children then to Amos’ Boma, one of the first 9 children to be sponsored. It was really fun and really interesting, Amos is really lovely. Then we had lunch and afterwards we went back to the clinic to play with the children and then went to look around some shops. In the evening, before everyone was back, we played Frisbee and a game called Mafia. Then we helped carry some 20L water containers which were incredibly heavy and I struggled with, but it was funny. Missing everyone lots but having a great time. Lots of love xxxxx

So yesterday, was a rough because we visited and stayed the night in a bomas which had 7 people in and we were all cramped together I hardly had no sleep though as someone was snoring. However yesterday was sports day as we held the event for 4 hours which was really good because I and my friend Daniel had to keep guard of the maize even though the schools where so into it, it was just amazing atmosphere. After sports day got our stuff ready for today which was a safari trip and it was absoulty amazing we seen loads of different wild animals; Zebras, Elephant, Cheaters, Lion and a Cub. I’m fine and I love you all xx

Hi! Today we were up very early to get to Tarangiane so it was a quick breakfast and a long drive to get there. We were in safari trucks and we were able to stand up to view the animals up close. It was an amazing experience and saw so much wildlife including elephants, zebras and lions. It was an amazing day and the best experience on this trip so far. Everyone got great pictures and I am excited to share it all. I am loving every minute and can not wait for the rest of our time here. Tomorrow we are visiting a boma again to see how the maasai live. I hope you are all good.

Hi,

I didn’t do a diary on Thursday as I was shattered and the day was packed. On Wednesday we slept in the boma which wasn’t fun at all, I actually found it scary. We slept in the kitchen one so it was full of smoke and we were left stinking. I got no sleep as it was six of us jam packed in to it and Rachel kept snoring bless her as she was poorly but it was a very funny night. It was one of the men who served us goat boma’s so we got to meet all of his wives and family. It was interesting as he is a oldish man which I would say was in his forties but I met one of his wives and she was very young with a baby I would say was just under 1 and she lived in a boma by herself with her baby. It was very shocking to see the age difference. No doubt shed of been married off.

On Thursday it was sports day for all the primary schools and they loved it! We had certificates for 1st, 2nd and 3rd which the kids were very proud of receiving and for the kids who came 1st they were maize which is a food for them to take home to their family. However, we had to be harsh because some of the children did cheat an d therefore were disqualified which I found sad as I wanted them all to enjoy their day which they did and I was just being silly feeling sorry for them as I know they have to learn. All the schools were cheering it was amazing.

Today we went on safari so we were up at 5:00. We went in land rovers to Tarengiera which was one of the best days of the trip. We saw everything! Lions, cheetah, ostriges, zebras, water hogs, buffalos, wilder beasts, giraffes, baboons and elephants! We were so close to some of them! BUT MY CAMERA DIED!!!! So I’m sharing Abi’s pictures as she was in the same land rover as me and she has a really good camera. But the day was the best and we went to this hotel there and the view was out of this world, you could see all the animals while you were having a drink.

Cant believe there’s only 6 days left and I’m home its flown by but I am ready to see everyone and be back in my own bed after sleeping in a tent for 3 weeks lol.

Always hope everyone is ok, I love you all. Love G xxx

Hi!

Today was amazing! We went to Tarangire National Park for a safari. The land rovers picked us up at 6am so we had to be up early but it was definitely worth it! We saw a cheetah with a cub and finally saw some lions! We got to see two and one of them was really close to us. When we ate dinner we saw a family of elephants coming down to get a drink and it amazing; they all walked down in a line. I couldn’t believe the views we got to see. I have got some more amazing photos to show you all. We also went to Tarangire safari lodge and got to sit with a drink whilst looking at an elephants, impalas and zebras. Overall an amazing day amd I can’t wait to go to bed after a very early morning! Love you all,

Abi xxx
