Samwel Loishiye
He had to leave home at 5 a.m. to get to primary school for 7 a.m. Neither of his parents have work. There are six children in the family, Samwel has one brother and four younger sisters. His oldest brother is currently at secondary school, but his father is struggling to keep up with the fees, (he has to sell livestock to keep up with the payments). Samwel can’t always afford to pay for food at primary school, so can go a whole term without it. He wants to be a doctor one day.
Samwel started Moita Boys’ Secondary Boarding School in January 2014. In the National Form Two Examinations 2015 he gained a Distinction (the highest level of pass). He is being sponsored by Liam Richardson from Stockton on Tees, and his family.
Samwel sat his national secondary examinations in November 2017, and performed extremely well. As a result he was selected to study A’ Levels in History, Geography & Languages at Kasoma School, Musoma, and he started his course in July 2018. Samwel is being sponsored through his two years of A’ Level studies by Bethany Graham & Laure Whaley – Laura is a former member of staff at Acklam Grange School.
In November 2020 Samwel was selected to study a Bachelor of Project Planning & Management degree course at Mwenge University, Moshi. Bethany and Laura are continuing their sponsorship of Samwel throughout his three years at university.
