Nganahe Parmwat
Her father arranged for her to marry someone so that he could receive a dowry of several cows. Her teachers helped her to run away to Arusha where she was looked after overnight by some NGOs. She was brought to Meserani Snakepark Clinic where she was hiding from her father until The Meserani Project could get her started at Kipok Boarding School – once she starts secondary school it is against the law in Tanzania for her father to visit her and attempt to marry her off.
Nganahe started Kipok Girls’ Secondary Boarding School in January 2012. In her Mock Final Examinations for Form Four, she achieved a Merit, (the second highest level of pass). She completed her secondary education in November 2015, and gained a Division Three pass in her National Examinations. As a result, she was selected by the government to study History, Geography and Kiswahili at A’ Level at Irkisongo School, Monduli. She started her A’ Level studies in July 2016.
Nganahe was sponsored through her secondary and A’ Level Education by Sarah Small and June Holt, the mother and grandmother of Acklam Grange School pupils.
In October 2018 Nganahe was selected to study a BA degree in Linguistics & Kiswahili at Dodoma University. She is being sponsored throughout her three years at university by her previous sponsor, Sarah Small, and husband Steven, whose children were both pupils at Acklam Grange School, and also by Debbie & Stuart Fallowfield, previous sponsors of Anna Charles.
