Lowasa Mengoru

His father has five wives, so Lowassa has 32 brothers and sisters. His mother has seven children. His big brother started High School, but had to drop out because he couldn’t afford the transport costs. His father died in 2008 of T.B. There is no hope of Lowassa going to secondary school, as he depends on his mother’s income, and she breaks rocks for a living. He was placed 15^th, in his examinations at Meserani Juu Primary School in early 2014. He would like to be a doctor one day.

Lowasa started his secondary education at Moita Boys’ Secondary Boarding School in January 2015. He is being sponsored by Jonathan Lee.

Lowasa achieved a Division Two result in his final examinations, and was selected to study A’ Levels in Chemistry, Biology and Geography at Lugoba High School, Chalinze. He started his course in July 2019. He is being sponsored throughout his two years of A’ Level studies by Koji Okamoto, originally from Tokyo, and now living in the U.S.A.

Lowasa achieved a Division II Point 11 result in his A’ Level examinations, and was selected to study a B Ed degree course at the Cathloic University, Mbeya, starting in October 2021. Koji is continuing to sponsor Lowasa throughout his three years at university.
