Happy Alex

Happy attended Meserani Juu Primary School. She comes from a family of six children, three boys and three girls, and she is the first born. Her father was originally supportive, but he now has severe alcohol problems. Her mother is selling grass in the cattle market to survive. She would like to be a nurse one day.
Happy started her secondary education at Kipok Girls’ Secondary Boarding School in January 2021. She was sponsored by Jenny Allen, who visited Meserani in January 2020 as part of the group from Virgin Media.
In June 2025 Happy was offered a place at Arusha Teachers’ College to study a two year course in Early Childhood Development Education, which would lead to her being able to be employed in Nursery and Day Care Centres, and is being sponsored to attend this course by Jenny, who says, “After visiting Tanzania in 2000, I was deeply moved by the incredible work being done by The Meserani Project. Seeing the impact first-hand stayed with me ever since, and I knew that one day I wanted to help. As a woman & a mom & seeing Happy’s situation, I understand how important access to education and opportunity is for building a better future. I was so lucky to meet Happy in 2023 when I returned to Tanzania, it was an unforgettable moment that made this sponsorship even more personal and meaningful.“
