Nabulu Soine Loramatu
She lives with both parents who don’t work. Her father has two wives. Her actual mother has five children, her father’s second wife has four children. Nabulu was the first born in the whole family. Her mother doesn’t work, but will sell milk to provide lunches. Her father sells maize and some livestock. Nabulu fears that she will be married off.
Nabulu started Engutoto Secondary School as a boarding pupil in January 2014, and was then transferred to Irkisongo School, Monduli, following a school reorganisation programme. She was sponsored by Sandra Wilkinson, a retired physiotherapist from Stockton on Tees.
Nabulu sat her national secondary examinations in November 2017, and as a result of the ‘second selection’ process she was selected to study A’ Levels at Lufilio High School, Mbeya, and she started her course in September 2018.
On 17 August 2020 Nabulu was travelling home by public transport after visiting the town of Monduli to obtain documents necessary for her university application. The bus she was travelling in failed to stop at a road junction, and was in collision with another bus. Tragically, Nabulu lost her life in the accident. Nabulu was ‘one of ours’, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
