Neeko Mungaya
Neeko’s father has more than one wife, he keeps animals, and does not really care for his children. She has two brothers and one sister, and they live in a traditional Maasai home. Her favourite subjects are Mathematics, Science and Geography. She was placed first in her examinations at Meserani Chini Primary School in early 2014. She would like to be a pilot one day.
Neeko started her secondary education at Kipok Girls’ Secondary Boarding School in January 2015. In hr first school examinations in November 2015 she gained a Distinction (the highest level of pass). She is being sponsored by Mary Turner, a former member of staff at Acklam Grange School. Since retiring in 2004 Mary has lived in London and now York, where she is involved in looking after her baby granddaughter and continues to enjoy singing – this time with a York barbershop chorus.
Neeko achieved a Division Two result in her final examinations, and was selected to study A’ Levels in Chemistry, Biology and Geography at Magu High School, Mwanza. She started her course in July 2019. She is being jointly sponsored throughout her two years of A’ Level studies by two residents of Appleton Wiske, North Yorkshire.
Neeko achieved a Division III Point 13 result in her A’ Level examinations, and was selected to study a B Sc in Education at Mbeya, starting in October 2021. She is being jointly sponsored throughout her two years of A’ Level studies by a family and a resident of Appleton Wiske, North Yorkshire, along with support from three former Acklam Grange School pupils and a member of staff at the school.
