Nyangusi Loshilu meets Chloe, James, Joe & Tom.
In August 2014 four former Acklam Grange School pupils spent three weeks in Tanzania contributing to the work of The Meserani Project – Chloe Winter, James Small, Joe Millar and Tom Dobson. Not only did they do everything at their own expense, but they also raised several thousand pounds to spend on the project while they were there. You can find out all about their work on their website by clicking here.
During their time at Meserani they came across a boy called Nyangusi Loshuli, and took him to their hearts. Asked about Nyangusi James Small said, “Nyangusi was the boy that Lotti got to escort us to Meserani Juu on his ‘Maasai taxi’ i.e. bike! He was absolutely brilliant and had the biggest smile we had ever seen. We have video clips of him too playing football and singing the national anthem. We gave him a football as a thank you for all of his help.” On their website diary he said, “Loth fixed us up with one of the pupils at the school to escort us there and back and the 4 of us have made a new best bud in Nyangusi! Honestly, he’s just a legend. We gave him a football to say thanks for doing what he did for us and the smile that appeared on his face was out of this world. In fact, it never left his face for the rest of the time we were with him.”
Chloe, James, Joe and Tom vowed to help Nyangusi to go to secondary school in three years if he passed his national primary school examinations.
