Ruth Tataya

Ruth attended Meserani Chini Primary School. She has two brothers and two sisters. Her parents are alive but they are poor and they have been getting help of food from the government and their neighbours every now and then. They were planning to give their daughter up for marriage at a young age, as is the tradition in many Maasai families.

Ruth started Kipok Girls’ Secondary Boarding School in January 2011. She was sponsored throughout her secondary education by staff from the MFL Department at Acklam Grange School. Unfortunately we were informed right at the end of her final year in school that she was pregnant, and the family had removed her from school. The timing could not have been worse for her, and of course for her future.
