Samwel Martin
He is living with both parents, but his father does nothing. His mother sells local Maasai jewellery to make a living. There are seven children in the family, he is the fifth born. He wants to be a doctor one day.
Samwel started Moita Boys Secondary Boarding School in January 2013. In his end-of-year examinations in 2013 he was placed second in his year group of 113 pupils. In his Form Three Examinations in November 2015 he gained a Distinction (the highest level of pass). He was sponsored by Staindrop School.
Samwel did really well in his secondary national examinations, and was subsequently selected to study A’ Levels in Chemistry, Biology and Physics at Tongani School, Pangani, and started his course in July 2017. He was sponsored through his two years of A’ Level studies by Staindrop School.
Samwel performed particularly well in his A’ Level final examinations, so much so that he was selected to study a BSc degree course in Microbiology and Immunology at Mulimbili University, Dar Es Salaam, and he started his course in mid October 2019. In 2020 he switched to study a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College.He is being sponsored throughout his university degree courses by Jenny Wright, from Yarm, Teesside.
