Elias Milya

Elias attended Meserani Chini Primary School.

Elias was placed third in his final year at primary school. He has never known his father, who passed away many years ago. His mother has nine children to bring up, and the family lives in extreme poverty. They rely on the local community to help with the basics in life. His favourite subjects are History, Science and Geography, and he would like to be a pilot one day. He told us that he wants “to do everything he can to change things”.

Eias started his secondary education at Moita Boys’ Secondary Boarding School in January 2017. He is being sponsored by Susan King, an Assistant Head Teacher at Acklam Grange School who teaches History. Susan is married with two grown up children; Gina is currently training to be a Chemistry teacher and William is at Nottingham University studying Mechanical Engineering. In her spare time Susan enjoys going to the gym and running, she completed her first half marathon in 2016 which was a huge personal achievement for her.
