Ngoondoye Mevaashi

Ngoondoye attended Kisongo Primary School. She is living with her mother, who suffers from a serious mental illness. She lives in a family of seven, none of who are educated. Her father passed away in 2003 and her father’s brothers wanted to send her away to get married so that they would receive a dowry.

 Ngoondoye started Kipok Girls’ Secondary Boarding School in January 2011. She was being sponsored by Lisa Connor, a member of staff at Acklam Grange School, and Dave. Simpson.

Unfortunately, Ngoondoye failed to return to school after the 2012 Christmas Holiday. Considerable efforts were made to trace her, and discover what the problems were, but no contact could be made with her family. Her sponsorship was transferred to Mama Keli, a pupil in the same year as Ngoondoye at Kipok School.
