The group from Virgin Media left Meserani this morning, and headed for Nairobi for their flight back to the U.K. tomorrow. What they have achieved in just a few days here has been truly amazing. Over and above their achievements that have already been documented on this website (providing Arusha Vocational Training Centre with laptops, tools, and a link for future support, interviewing all 157 pupils and students being supported by The Meserani Project, giving basic laptop lessons to the A’ Level students we support) they have also:

Visited the Adult Education Centre and installed an overhead projector, meaning that the local population can now have basic computer lessons with the benefit of being able to see on a large screen what they should be doing in practical terms.Virgin Media Adult Education Centre JUne 2015

Two full football strips were donated to the local football team – their first strips ever – and a demonstration game was put on specially for them. Some of the group joined in, and Tom Chambers became a hero when he scored!

A large consignment of educational resources and clothing were donated to Kipok Girls’ Secondary Boarding School.Virgin Media Kipok School 2015

They joined in some traditional Maasai dancing with some of the boys being supported by The Meserani Project.

Instruction in the use of ‘Powerpoint’ as an educational tool was given to the Head Teacher and staff at Kipok Secondary School.Virgin Media Kipok School 2015-B

Meserani Chini Primary School was visited to look at how they could maximise their water harvesting.

However, their major achievement was to install full solar power to the home of four teachers at Kipok Girls Secondary Boarding School. It took a whole day, and there were times when it seemed that it would not be possible due to the complications presented by the layout and construction of the home, but the resilience, enthusiasm, perseverance and resourcefulness of the group meant that they successfully completed the task.

The group impressed everybody that they met at Meserani, in so many ways, and they were a credit to themselves and their company.
